I can confirm that on Jaunty too, desktop effects enabled.
I had to logout to see the cursor theme change.

I was able to reproduce this bug, but only with visual effects enabled;
without them the pointer shows up correctly everywhere. This may be a
Compiz bug.

Hi nik8pol,
Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've
made any customizations to your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

the issue is not a gnome-control-center then but either an xorg
limitation or a toolkit bug

The pointer is correctly changed, as you said, but it does reflect only
above specific apps such as firefox (In all other common apps I tested the
problem exists)

There is no error or something reported in the ~/.xsession-errors
file after trying to change the cursor.
OS: ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty beta with all updates installed
I also noticed that all pointers (except the default that works fine) work
under the firefox and openoffice window (I tried several apps)
thanks for the report Nipas, which release of Ubuntu are you using?
Could you try on Jaunty? Is there anything on your ~/.xsession-errors
file after tried to change the pointer? As Leann said that also works
fine for me here with Jaunty so not confirming, thanks.

Hi Nipas,
This is not a kernel bug so I am reassigning this to the gnome-control-
center package. However, I am unable to reproduce this bug in Jaunty
with gnome-control-center 1:2.26-0.0ubuntu1:
ogasaw...@emiko:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-control-center
gnome-control-center:
Installed: 1:2.26.0
