The version of -ati mentioned earlier is now included in lucid, so we
can consider this bug resolved.
Unfortunately, it is not a candidate for backporting to earlier versions
of Ubuntu.

Installing the driver from xorg-edgers ppa fixes the problem. So jaunty
needs the driver updated.

This is a significant update to -ati which brings in kernel mode-setting
(currently disabled) and scores of fixes for DRI2, EXA, etc.
