It works just fine with Karmic. When Jaunty launched, that machine was
very new, maybe the kernel needed to catch up with the hardware. Now it
works like a charm!

WORKAROUND (added this so people dont need to read the whole thread for a
solution)

I think the module usb-storage isnt loaded during boot for some reason or
another, ive figured out a workaround that seems to work fine for me, hopefully
it solves the problems others have as
i have this problem also with ubuntu jaunty, sd card isnt recognized by
ubuntu, but putting in a usb device brings up the usb device's contents
and the sd card's contents. i did
> sudo modprobe usb-storage
and then sd card was detected instantly and a window popped up with the contents
when i ran
Loading the usb-storage module did the job.
> sudo modprobe usb-storage
Is there a way to do this automatically whenever I insert my card?

I have the same problem. My gateway 5676 SD card reader seems to detec a
compactFlash card (led is on when I insert card) but nothing seems to happen on
my system (no event in dmesg).
Kubuntu 9.04 amd64

Hello all
I have the same problem as virtualspectre8. I have a sony mp3-player
which used to work well with intrepid and Hardy. I could mount it.
Although I was not able to make it work with Rhythmbox or banshee(they
could see the device but could not install musci), still I could use it
like a US
Is there a way to attach multiple files at the same time?

Stangely I connected my Mp3 player (Sony NWZ series) when it mounted,
the card mounted as well. The card was inserted all this time.
Now since Jaunty my mp3's screen displays a "Connecting USB (MTP), in
Hardy and Intrepid displayed "Connecting" only. In Hardy and Intrepid I
can browse the mp3's fi

I think something has gone wrong because none of those commands do
something in my system, even after restarting it. "sudo lspci -vvnn >
lspci-vvnn.log" asks for my password, after I enter it nothing happens.
Maybe I'm missing a package or something.
I tried different commands and they work as ex

Oops... these commands:
uname -a > uname-a.log
cat /proc/version_signature > proc_version_signature.log
sudo lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log (those are 2 v's not a w)
dmesg > dmesg.log
