I think I have the same problem. I don't have a card to put in the card
reader to test it but my dmesg out put also says that it is waiting tor
the device to settle. It worked fine on Intrepid

No, the Mp3 Player only mounts when there is a card, e.g. a compact
flash card, in the cardreader, those are two different devices.
