Actually, I can't be completely sure. With medibuntu enabled, and using
totem, the movies are still slow, but using mplayer, they're fast again.
This might be the state things were in Intrepid that I'm misremembering.

(and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this issue. If you've
