Both the reported issue - Rhythmbox XDG directories - and the
incidentally reported upgrade issue are both fixed. The upgrade issue
was fixed in gnome-do 0.8.2

application to ensure that this is dealt with correctly.

~/.local/share/gnome-do isn't deleted if running a apt-get purge gnome-
do gnome-do-plugins

It turned out the problem was that the plugin didn't actually get
upgraded. removing the folder ~/.local/share/gnome-do and adding the
plugin again helped. Both the trunk and the version in jaunty repos
work.
But perhaps there's a problem how the upgrade functions. Seems like the
addin db isn't up
Can you try using the one from trunk?
