I downloaded the Ubuntu 9.04 Beta liveCD and test the modem. It works
very well with Network Manager 0.7.1~rc3.1.git4cf2da146-0ubuntu1.

I asked to test with latest jaunty packages (jaunty is now beta); if you
dont have a chance to upgrade or test liveCD, please check whether the
NM backports for intrepid provided by network-manager team PPA fix this
issue for you; install them by adding http://launchpad.net/~network-
manager/+archi
does 0.7.1 from jaunty work for you?
