I just did the system updates and it is now working so it seems to be resolved as it is now using gnome-games version 1:2.24.1.1.-0ubuntu1. I suspect this is a temporary fix until things get cleaned up with the newer version. Thanks for your efforts at tracking this down patching it up. Peace - Ant
