In Toshiba Satellite P300-184 with network running Karmic 2.6.31-14, no network
at all:

i applied the mentioned firmware, and it seems to work now. i did not do
any big testing, i just restarted the laptop with an unplugged network
cable, and the network card was correctly recognized. i tried it both
with batter-power and with normal-power. this is on karmic-current.

Sorry I previously missed a few details:
* The Marvell ethernet controller is only detected if cable plugged on boot, as
the original reporter mentioned.
* The error I was referring to above happens even when booting with cable
plugged with kernel 2.6.30-8.
* This error does not occur booting ka
This problem is still present on karmic kernel 2.6.30-8-generic, though
I have a different model of HP mini:
