Invalid my ASS. You break qemu and start writing directly onto video
buffer when tis happens.

not sure. but it does seem to affect the X11 interface at least with
gnome.
restarting the server will not fix the problem after the second times
that this happens.
the odd thing about it is that GRUB is not affected in any way and boots
normally with this key pressed on REAL hardware.
