Checked again in Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick Meerkat) and observed the same
abnormal behavior: while running from the LiveCD suspend appears to be
working to be fine but as soon as it's installed on the machine's HDD
suspending will break.
I have also tried the following testcase scenario: running from

Problem is still present in Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 (up-to-date), with the
very same symptoms: the DVD live image appears to survive suspends but
the HDD installed image hangs upon resuming from suspend.
I have also tried with and without the acerhk driver (used for the Wireless LED
/ software rfkill)
I've already seen, the starter has an Intel W-Lan-card, I have an

The Issue regarding the Network interfaces seems was due to acerhk.

I also see this problem (and have since 8.10).
Symptoms for me are:
Go to sleep (works the same as Windows)
- slight pause
- lights go out
- orange sleep LED comes on and power light off
Wakeup using lid or power button
- machine stirs briefly (I think the HD powers up)
- Green power lamp comes
Just updated the machine to the latest Jaunty and the symptoms are worse
now -- the machine does one powerup then powersoff and remains powered
off.
Please note that a similar issue is present when normally powering off
the machine from the system menu: after the shutdown is complete and

Tried running pm-suspend from the console two times (with Xorg running
and also stopped) and I still get the same double power-up and hang
sequence upon trying to resume. No messages since the console remained
blank.
Should I try to mess up again with the DebuggingKernelSuspend method ?

If it is reproducible could you try the suspend from VT1, press ctrl-
alt-F1, login, and run pm-suspend there. If you could test and report
back here that would be helpful. We may see additional messages there.
Also looking at your dmesg there does seem to be a hash detected in the
boot:
