Guys, check https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.20/+bug/74672 That is the bug that prevented me to connect.
When I manually perform:
iwconfig wlan0 essid Z
iwconfig wlan0 mode Managed
iwconfig wlan0 key restriced
iwconfig
dhclient wlan0
...it works. Add an extra letter
r818x does not work under Ubuntu 7.04 either (Feisty Fawn). It scans
well APs, but when I try to connect to mine, it simply does not. I
cannot tell what the problem is ready syslog.
Using ndiswrapper on another laptop, I get it working, but only for 10
minutes, after which the card resets itself
The problem with rtl8180 and ndiswrapper using wep is in
/etc/network/interfaces. If you use the windows driver you need to set your key
before the essid, and you need to specify what kinda authentication you have
In my interfaces file I need to set
wireless open key ***
wireless essid **
