I'm having the a similar problem on Jaunty, kernels 2.6.28-15-generic and 2.6.28-16-generic. The device is an external USB drive, Western Digital Passport 320 GB. The system correctly detects and mounts the device but when reading certain files I get looping messages in dmesg looking as follows: [
