Nice. Wouldn't have thought it's just a missing package... After installing
uswsusp resume from hibernate indeed works fine now. Even wireless connection
is automatically reestablished. Very nice.

I had the same problem as you months ago and I fixed it by downloading and
installing uswsup, so type
sudo apt-get install uswsusp
After that, you have to edit the /etc/uswsusp.conf file with this
content:
