I'm experiencing this bug again in 9.10, although the UI control is
gone, the respective gconf key does not work either:
/apps/gdm/simple-greater/settings-manager/sound/active
I've unchecked the box for that key, but Ubuntu still plays the greater
sound after graphical login (gdm configured with

This is not an issue anymore for me since I upgraded to Jaunty, but it
has been an issue until the last day I had been using Intrepid. Now I
haven't Intrepid anymore on any of my computers, so I don't know if it
is still a issue for it.
