I can confirm this behaviour in karmic beta (inkscape
0.47~pre1-0ubuntu2) Those fonts all appear to be in the ttf-aenigma
package. I cannot select any of the fonts you mentioned. The only
difference is that my font selector does not freeze.

A pre-release of the upcoming Inkscape 0.47 is now available in Ubuntu
Karmic for testing. Because *so* much stuff has changed compared with
