Seems like this happens only when selecting Encrypted home directory.
See Bug #321345.
I just tested a new install and could not reproduce the problem when
*not* using the encrypted home directory option at install time.

I have this sames problem with the final 9.04 lpia alternate ISO install
(either full install or minimal install).

same problem with ubuntu 9.04 beta alternate cd for amd64, with a fresh install
under a ext4 file system.
the user was not in the sudoers list.
have to go to recovery mode and add the user name to the admin group, then edit
the sudoer list to add the admin group.

Updated a Jaunty install to a new kernel image (usage?), viz
2.6.28-8-generic just this morning at 04:50 UTC 13 March 2009. Has
removed my normal user from sudoers, so this seems to affect more than
the first install. I'm sure if I could remember my root password, I
could manually correct this. I'd
