I reread some of the info in bug #280780 and realised that libdvdcss2 is
not packaged as a separate package, which is implied from some of the
comments and instructions.

as noted, I have now upgraded the totem package version 2.24.3-0ubuntu1
the disc was still in the player so I started totem from
Applications->Sound&Video and then selected play disc from the movie menu.
same result for "No Quarter" - error message "Could not read from
resource."

libdvdread3 and libdvdnav4 were already installed and were up to date.
Could not find libd
ran apport to collect info about the fail when playing dvd "No Quarter" which
gives the message "an error occurred, Could not read from resource."
tried to lodge it by subscribing but dont know if the extra attachments were
added because the bug report system gave me the message "you are already
