Now subdownlaoder moved to pyqt5, and there has been quite some rewrite.
At the very least, I can perfectly select and deselect using the left
button now…

It's the same in Ubuntu Studio, but when it downloads you are getting
the mowies HTML page named .tar.gz instead of .html - but no subtitles.
All the checkboxes are there as they used to be, but they dont respond
to checking!!
