thanks for your answer. I won't be able to test the 180 driver, as jaunty
hasn't officially been released yet, and I have no PC to test the beta.
As soon as jaunty is released, I will certainly test it and report it to this
bug.

desktop-effects are working well (eg. the "wobble effect" when moving windows).
But sometimes they seem to fail, the wobble-effect etc. is gone. But that
failure is independent to the other problems (google earth unusable, totem
crashes).

I reported Bug #306980 , in which I described that totem sometimes quits
immediately when I try to open a video. So far I have not found any way to
reproduce the error for sure, it just works (and sometimes does not).
Same goes for Google-Earth, sometimes I can use it
