I observe this behaviour in rhythmbox 0.12.8-0ubuntu
Copying data to or from an Apple iPod produces multiple prompts to
overwrite files.

Just in case this helps, here's just the section that documents the bug.
I tested it by copying over 30 blank MP3s all starting with "This is
actually a blank MP3 and not anything else, remember", and the bug came
up a few times.

Of course, the log is extremely large (>10MB) however thanks in part to
it listing every song in my ~5k collection many times over. I've found
the section of it that seems to document only the bug; I'll post that as
a separate attachment.
