Jaunty: Launching gnome-terminal on start up, no title b
Here, I will attach a screenshot, I had a terminal running under
metacity and then forced compiz, which is the same result as running
terminal in autostart. If I drag the terminal window down using ALT,
then the window title bar appears, almost like it was hidden under the
panel (see screenshot).

this is not a gnome-terminal issue but a window manager one, rejecting
the gnome-terminal task since it doesn't contain any code to manage the
window manager (borders).

I'm getting this problem in 9.04. When I try and launch gnome-terminal
from a launch applet or from the applications menu or with CTRL + F2 it
will say gnome-terminal is starting up in the bottom and then disappear
and nothing comes up. The only thing that has changed is me upgrading
from 8.10 to 9
I have "normal" visual effects (and I might have changed some minor
things in ccsm). In my case, the terminal was on the upper left side of
the screen, with no title bar. The title bar appeared e.g. if I moved
the terminal to another workspace.
I cannot test it nor give you a screenshot at the mom
What visual effects settings do you use? (System>Preferences>Visual Effects).
If you drag the terminal using alt does the menu bar appear?
Can you attach a screenshot of your desktop when this occurs immediately after
login?
