This bug is fixed in Firefox 3.6 which is the default in Lucid. Since
I'm running Karmic, I installed it from ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
and fixes this bug.

This looks like what I'm getting too with 3.5.5.
I have my bookmark toolbar on the menubar to save space (fig1), but
often when I restart firefox it has disappeared again (fig2).
This has only happened since I moved to 3.5.x.

session), close firefox, then copy my localstore.rdf into the profile
dir.
