Thinkpad T40, same audio hardware and configuration, works fine on hardy (fresh
installed), intrepid (upgraded) and jaundy (upgraded).

After checking back with someone using a T40 with Ubuntu 8.10 fresh
install (not an upgrade), I supose it's an issue with upgrading, because
sound works fine on his system.

Data point: No audio problems on a T40p. This is a fresh 8.10 install,
not an upgrade. Running the 2.6.27-9 kernel package.
