Same issue here with 2.6.31-21-generic on a T61 on unstable karmic. Found out that the wireless drivers causes kernel panics when left for a while under load. sudo modprobe -r iwl3945 And plugging in the ethernet when leaving it alone seems to help. Also, try an older kernel and see if that help
