This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try

I boot my computer with usplash disabled (removing "splash" and "quiet" of
the kernel line). After logging in, it doesn't load my desktop icons,panels
etc... and I also can't do anything. Sometimes with kernel 2.6.27-9 and
kernel 2.6.25-2 after logging in, ubuntu hangs up.

determine if this issue is usplash related, would you boot your computer with
usplash disabled and then shutdown to see if you can reproduce the issue? To
disable usplash for a single boot, you can follow these steps :
