I have PostgreSQL 8.4, and I can affirm that basics.sql is nowhere
present. I installed via the Ubuntu repositories. There also is no
"tutorial" directory, as mentioned in the tutorial part of the
PostgreSQL manual. Here's the results of my "locate *.sql":
