Paul Libert, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com

The way I see it :
- old style ide driver is not anymore compiled in the kernels part of the
distribution
- new style driver is not compiled either and even if compiled is not really
working.
I've no time to try to debug this situation and as far as I see it,

I have a rocketraid 1520 and after upgrading to intrepid the card also
stopped working. Both pata_hpt37x pata_hpt366 do nothing. I'm still
running linux-image-2.6.24-19-server from hardy now, since this seems
the only way for now. Is there any good way to solve this by now? I'm

I tried the 2.6.28-4.10 kernel from Jaunty

that it correctly detects the hpt302n card, using the pata_hpt37x driver. This
ran for a few minutes before the driver hitting an error, and mdadm failing the

I see that the upstream driver pata_hpt3x2n is currently the same as
that in Intrepid. When the freeze occured did you get any messages, any
panic, or oops information on the console? Could you try booting with
out the quiet and spash options on this kernel. It would be good to
find out what is

Thanks for your work.
If you look at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/52029
there seems to be some people interested.
Please also note that on 2.6.27, none of the .../drivers/ide/. are built.
It's probably due to the fact that you want to enforce .../drivers/ata/... but

Hi PLI200872,
I can confirm from the comments you posted that CONFIG_BLK_DEV_HPT366
which was enabled in Hardy is no longer enabled for Intrepid.
Additionally, CONFIG_PATA_HPT3X2N is not enabled either. I'll reassign
to the kernel team to consider enabling. Thanks.
