Similar problem, Kubuntu 8.10, 32-bit. If I am logged in at the
console, I kde4 will not allow another kde login session to start via
vncserver. The work-around: log off the console if I need to use vnc.
Also, the screen quality is very poor with vnc sessions. Lots of hash,
mouse turds, and me
