The problem is simply related to the fact that unison is not backword
compatible both on server and client side. So if the client has a
different version of unison than in the server, the error shows up. In
the specific case, If my jaunty-client runs on the version of unison for
jaunty, it will not
Still present in hardy, So I am reopening this bug.

It works now (8.10). I have lost interest in this for a while and after
several upgrades I tried again.
Worked.
So, for me this is not an issue.
If I was the only person to experience this, lets close the issue.
