This bug was reported against the octave upgrade in Ubuntu versions
7.10, 8.04, and 8.10. All of these Ubuntu releases have reached end of
life and are no longer supported.
If the bug is still reproducible in a currently supported version of
Ubuntu, increase the verbosity of the steps to recreate
octave3.0 and octave2.9 are both references by update-manager as
upgrades, unused dependencies and remove_candidates. So the packages are
upgraded then removed :(
