@newer, thanks but actually I would need a full set of files from you to
have a consistent debugging set. Really it'd probably be easier if you
just made a new bug report (file as 'ubuntu-bug xorg'), if you can
reproduce the problem on Karmic.

I've got the same Problem here (same Graphic, 8.10 with all Updates,
same Letter-Bug). Using google-earth 4.3.7284.3916 (beta). I attached
the output you wanted Bryce. Hope it helps to fix that.

Sorry Bryce,
Per my last post of 12-22-08, I've gone way back to 8.04 and am happy
again. I've been VERY selective about any "Recommended" upgrades I'm
getting notified of. If you still want that output, I'll figure out how
to get it to you.
I'll be damned! I see the xserver-xorg ... etc. etc.

I fought and lost. I was able to get the fonts back in GoogleEarth, but
the speed of the program was unacceptable (for me). There were other
manifestations that the "fix" was more of a band aid. Slow Lattice
screensaver, Lbreakout graphics problems.
I played with the /boot/config files, the /et

Hi. Hope this screenshot illustrates the GoogleEarth problem. (It was
great before 8.10, and its still not THAT bad). City names are missing
letters (usually vowels, but not always). Street names are fine, though
I did have to screw around with font settings, and can't tell you what
worked.

Thanks for reporting this bug. Please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log
and /var/log/syslog files to this bug report after the bug has been
reproduced.
Also, could you try catch the errors/ugly effects on a screenshot and attach?
Thanks in advance.
