It seems the fix caused a regression on some trackpads. The trackpad on my Dell
Vostro V13 is basically unusable because horizontal sensitivity is about 3
times higher than horizontal sensitivity (the opposite of the OP's situation).
It is like that on 11.04 and current 11.10 alpha.

In 11.04 the touchpad aspect ratio is messed up on my Dell Vostro V13.
It was fine on 10.10. In my case the horizontal sensitivity is much
higher than the vertical sensitivity.

Looks like the patch for this got upstream in 2009, so presumably this
issue is long since fixed. If not, please reopen the bug report with
elaboration on where things are at.

There is a test patch mentioned that modifies the synaptic kernel driver
to scale its output correctly, but it seems that may not be what they
wind up doing in the end. Maybe I'll try to package it up

Hello,
I link to my bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/308889
The problem is basically that the vertikal movement sensitivity is much
higher than the horizontal one. The results are waves when you draw a
line from left to right (and vice versa). You can easily check this by
drawin
i don;t know how to fix it, but to test it just draw a circle on the
touchpad with your finger and look at the mouse movment. the circle it
draws with the mouse cursor should be about 3x taller than it is wide.
made a thread on ubuntuforums asking how to change this behaviour but no
replies

is it possible that the symptoms you describe are caused by the vertical
sensitivity being about 3 times greater than the horizontal sensitivity?
that seems to be the case for me.
