Hmm, I've seen this issue before, in bug #579117 . He solved it by installing a
newer kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.34-lucid/

seems that the network connection with the access point does time out
then it has to re associate causing the sound skipping (again|), this
happens when the network is heavily loaded
