1.40 will appear in Jaunty at some stage, at which point it can be
backported. Until then you can use the PPA at
https://launchpad.net/~transmissionbt/+archive which has 1.40.

Included in upstream, ok, but what about included in ubuntu ? Should I
backport a tested patch against 1.34 ?
As is, combined with my keyboard issues that only suspend or remote ssh
manages to fix properly, I am left with a non working laptop if I my
keyboard dies while using transmission. Hence I
Fix included upstream with 1.40
