I'm closing this report since Totem has never handled DVD menus
correctly in the past (sadly...). This is an ongoing work and will maybe
be reaady for Jaunty. See bug 260765 about problems with menu support in
Intrepid. If you want to report informations there, please just go on!

Curiousity makes me ask: what are those advantages? All I've ever
noticed of gstreamer is that it lacks features xine's had for years.

don't you think that's comparing one feature is not enough to judge two
multimedia framework, gstreamer is better integrated in GNOME and has
many advantages over xine too

I'm using totem-gstreamer; I tried totem-xine and it does indeed work.
Thanks for the hint.
Of course, this does raise the question of why totem-gstreamer is
included at all, if totem-xine works and totem-gstreamer doesn't?

Are you using totem-gstreamer or totem-xine? Totem-gstreamer has never
been able to handle menus. If you did a fresh install, maybe you were
using -xine on Hardy and now the fresh one gave you -gstreamer back?
