It seems that your second Xorg.0.log indicates that you tried to use the
open source "nv" driver, but you still have the proprietary nvidia
driver installed. This doesn't work, sorry. You should restore your
original xorg.conf with "Driver nvidia" again.

sorry about the three posts
here's the second xorg.0.log, after I cleared the original xorg
configuration file. I want to note that I had no GUI after I did this,
and there was a kinit error message whenever i tried to start the X
server.
