Lucid machine here, with multisync 0.92.0~svn355-2. Synchronizations
with the synce-opensync-plugin and evo2-sync appear to succeed with no
error messages, however, no calendar synchronization happens. After a
sync, syslog contains

Same problem here as described above, but using version 0.13 from PPA
and synce-hal. I also had to fixup the ipaq kernel module. rra tools and
ppp link to WM2003 device is working.

Initially I had the same issue. After playing with Thorsten's script I
think I'm one step further.
One remark to the script, I changed the logging to grab the whole output of
synce-sync-engine:
synce-sync-engine > synce-sync-engine.log 2>&1 &
However I do get the same error in /var/log/messages,
