I have tried this to no avail, rather than use your time, I will wait the
couple days until 8.10 is released and download it. I have all my files
backed-up so I will not lose any data by running a new install. Besides, I
want to learn how to partition my home file for future use.

In fact you have to write:
sudo apt-get clean
And the name of the file you should post is:
sources.list
that is located into the folder /etc/apt/
:p
To post your souces.list, you have to join to your mail the file named
sources.list located into the folder /etc/apt/
