Karmic 9.10 is not able to properly turn off the monitor either on my
laptop nor my desktop. I used an ACPI script to turn off my laptop
monitor when the lid is closed, but with the lid open it still shows the

bug #436816 tells that monitor turns back on with screen saver after
going to sleep.
this bugs tells about inability of power-manager to put monitor to sleep at all.

On my system it also looks like it never suspend. But if screensaver and
powermanager both is set to 1 minute. It suspends every 100 secs. or so,
but switch on right after again. Can you not observe that?

But my monitor never suspends. It just stays on, draining the battery
unncessarily.

Yes, that is exactly the behavior I see.
The monitor turns off and then immediately goes on again with just a
black screen and backlight (both intrepid and jaunty). No problem in
Vista.
I hope a solution for this can be found because it is very annoying.
Thanks.
