I just had the problem where mplayer (actually for me it was vlc since
it's my default media player) opened on another machine. I found that
the only way to fix it is to do a CLEAN INSTALL of Intrepid, if you

instead. There is a windows partition on this machine but no other
partitions.

Forgot to mention that my root partition is separate from my /home
partition. A lot of people say they have never seen this problem so
maybe that's where the issue lies is when you have different partitions
