I tried the webcam under win7 with skype's video configuration test and
performance is fine so it's not a hardware problem.
On lucid the problem occurs with both skype and cheese.

** Description changed:
Hi,
I have dell vostro 1310. I'm using hardy latest kernel (.21). In all
kernels of Hardy have never had my webcam detected at all.
Sorry for the delay in response. Mack. The driver didn't work in any
kernel I used...but anyway. I've tested Intrepid and well not had much
luck there. Still same problem so no magic wand has been waved so far.:)

Didn't work out of the box or didn't work using that driver? The driver
isn't in the mainline kernel. Either way you need to compile it, I just
mean it might only be compatible with certain kernels.

though .

It's possible the driver hasn't kept up with mainline kernel development
and so worked around 2.6.20 or that it *has* kept up and is no longer
compatible with 2.6.24 but will work with 2.6.27

Mack, wow what a quick response :)
I'll download the live cd and check it out Tues at earliest (sorry away
from PC til then) and get back to you and see if it works and if any
other issues with Intrepid , as have had lots of hardware issues in
hardy anyway :).

Nah, if the driver on berlios.de that's recommended doesn't actually
work, we can't use it, so it's not Triaged yet. By the way, can you
test with an Intrepid live cd and see if it works on there? Though
really no chance it'll be done in two weeks, we can at least rule out
the possibility that it
