This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try

i have a pentium quad, sata dvdrw samsung drive,
the same problem is in
ubuntu 8.04.1 aternate amd64
kubuntu 8.04.1 aletrnate amd64
kubuntu 8.10 alternate amd64
