I hijacked this bug report for the other part (i.e. no plot was being
generated) and that's why it's Fix Released. But yes, bug #299381 is
still around it seems.

You received this bug notification because
it seems this issue isn't solved fundamentally. Look this
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/matplotlib/+bug/299381/comments/5.
The issue should be caused by an incomplete cleanup.

Ok, i've made some little test and now everything seems to work as
expected. Probably I have not mentioned this before, but the error
report is for intrepid ibex on a x86_64. In case this is of some
relevance.
Thanks,
Giovanni

After looking at your error again I realize it's not a matplotlib
issue. Because the default backend for matplotlib was Agg, which is non-
GUI, for a while you thought it was actually an error instead of a
warning. I'm marking this bug Fix Released since my latest upload sets
the default to TkAgg

/etc/matplotlibrc (i can't remember if it's modified or not...). Anyway, the
file is attached.
I've just updated matplotlib with the newer version, and the warning it's still
there, but this time i can get a plot!

Do you have a .matplotlib/matplotlibrc file? If so please attach it.
When I try pcolor_log.py with the default configuration I get no error,
but no plot either. When I use my matplotlibrc (mostly to set the
backend to GTKAgg) it works just fine.
