couldn't reproduce. Can you still reproduce this bug? If so, please do
backtrace of pidgin (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace) and attach to

2. use yahoo messenger account to login pidgin
3. when YM online switch user applet changes to green / online
4. now try to switch to Away using applet ... it worked
5. now try to switch to Busy using applet.. nothing happen pidgin stays
