CIDR /24 syntax and 255.255.255.0 are the same thing.
What do you mean by "NM also shows the same, although it shows for both
eth0 & eth1 while only eth0 is connected."?

1. Connect using NM
2. Start Firefox

Mackenzie, I have tried both ways, whenever I try to put static NM makes
my netmask 24 instead of 255.255.255.0 . So right now using dhclient .
NM also shows the same, although it shows for both eth0 & eth1 while
only eth0 is connected.

applet will still show "not connected" if all your devices are
unmanaged. but NM will tell apps like browser that you are online. which
is the original bug here.
