Ok. This is not a bug (although I don't know why it happened in Intrepid
and not in Hardy.
Do to:
Preferences -> Appearance -> Customize -> Colors -> Tooltips
Make sure the background isn't set to black. Color #F5F5B5 should do
fine :)

This is not an upgrade problem. I have just made a clean install of
Ubuntu intrepid release candidate and I still experience this problem.

Same thing here. I also updated (via update-manager -d) from hardy to
intrepid with exising home.

I have noticed the same problem on my system. I did an upgrade from
Hardy and I am using my existing .gnome, .gnome2, etc config
directories. I'm using the AMD64 build.
