Now running Kubuntu 8.10, with updates. This doesn't exhibit the blank screen
problem reported by zerg0 above, but does have the wallpaper issue described
above. That is, in twinview, wallpaper is not set across both screens as
happened on 8.04, and instead each monitor has to be set individu

xorg seems to be ok running from install on hard drive. Boots to full
resolution and glxinfo says direct rendering: yes
Twinview doesn't behave quite the same as on 8.04, in that wallpaper
doesn't run across both screens in 8.10 - they have to be set
individually.

Similar results here, with nvidia GeForce 7600.
After startup of live CD (Kubuntu 8.10 rc1), a glimpse of the desktop is shown,
then it goes blank.
Startup from live CD with safe graphics mode works.
