I don't use Gnome any more, I have lost interest in it over time (now
using XFCE), lets just close this bug and call it done Ubuntu
doesn't even use Gnome any more anyway, so I doubt they care the
slightest about such a minor issue.

I can confirm this bug. For me it logs in 2 seconds early to Xubuntu
Intrepid 8.10 on a hardware installation. My system is a PC Chips
motherboard, Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 GHz CPU, 3 GB Ram.
