A leading space seems to be ignored.
A trailing space tends to reduce the number of hits but sometimes it can
actually increase the number of results. Other times it just cancels all
results and finds nothing.
Maybe it doesn't hang but it isn't clear if a space becomes part of the
search token
Seems to be fixed in Intrepid final (installed system).
Space no longer hangs synaptic.
